It is way too quiet in Chelsea today -- it seems everybody is down at Miami for the art fairs!Mixed Greens is also at Miami installing for PULSE.

Attention for Mark Mulroney's work in our PULSE booth!
Wednesday, December 12, 2012
SHOUT OUT to the following sources and publications for their mention of Mark Mulroney's work in Mixed Greens' PULSE booth:JUXTAPOZ: Art Basel 2012
Laura Roughneen over at Art Market Monitor included a photo of our booth as a personal highlight for her. Here's her interview with fair director Cornell DeWitt.
Art Daily shares the good news: a sold out booth!
Art Fag City predicted that the cowboys and "manginas" might make for a tough sell...thankfully, the fair proved hugely successful.

More pics from the fairs:UNTITLED
This fair surely wins for exhibitor experience--can you imagine standing in your booth all day with those views??
Some standouts from the fair were Martin Roth's seeded rugs, and
Patrick Jacobs' inset wall works, both at POOL Gallery's booth.
Franklin Evans' trompe l'oeil paintings at Federico Luger's booth.
NADA
There were some noticeable trends at this fair, including stripey, loose-geometric paintings in bold color patterns. This is Yui Yaegashi at Misako & Rosen's booth.
And works/collages on found paper materials. This is Martin Neumaier at Parisa Kind's booth.
Color was everywhere at CANADA's booth.
And the pool party was one big blow-up-doll fest...
Complete with floating cinder blocks.
MIAMI PROJECT
GREAT cafe / outdoor lounge area.
There was an artist producing an intricate colored sand drawing near the cafe's entrance--I watched nervously as at least one attendee trampled through it unaware.
Spacious. Lots of light. Not too much foot traffic.
DESIGN MIAMI
This was my first time visiting Design Miami, and I'd happily visit again. Here's the impressive AUDI Robot making carbon fiber chairs.
And this stunning presentation by Perrier-Jouet: "Lost Time" by Glithero is an installation of hanging strands of nickel beads.
ART BASEL
Galerie Micky Schubert, from Berlin--lovely, minimal booth. A breath of fresh air amongst all of the craziness.
And lastly, my Eve and Adele sighting. My art fairing is complete.

It's that time again (prepping for Miami)
Tuesday, November 27, 2012
I googled "prepping for Miami" and was ASTOUNDED that this lovely assemblage from a 2010 posting on The Pit came up 1st in the Google image search. LOVE.
We are nearly there, folks. It's almost Miami Art Fair week. For some of you, I imagine this prep time involves juice cleansing, spray tanning and stock liquidating. For the rest of us, it involves reading. And for everyone, some serious list-making.
Mixed Greens is presenting new work by Mark Mulroney in our booth at PULSE (booth D-201). I'm still waiting for both Art Fag City and Boyd Level to put out their super handy Miami maps/lists. In the meantime, be sure to add the PULSE Art Fair (@ the Ice Palace) to your list of "must sees". We hope to see you there!
WHAT I'M READING UP ON:
Jerry Saltz ordering a faux Richter @ NYMAG. How much you wanna bet some sort of station will be set up on Collins where you can order your own...
The Art Loss Register. Do you think ALR will have some sort of booth at Basel? to advertise it's services?
Bob Dylan's latest show at Gagosian (Capital New York). But "this time, without the controversy." So the controversy will be no controversy? Intriguing.
That Art Fair on the Yacht: SeaFair. SeaSick.
ArtFagCity keeps us on top of What Adam Lindemann is doing in Miami this year. Because this year (unlike last year) he's probably going. For reals.

Miami: Part 2 (Scope, Nope)
Wednesday, December 08, 2010
SCOPEThe Scope fair was a huge disappointment this year. Unfortunately, this is the second year in a row. First and foremost, it was impossible to find. Yes, I know that it was in a massive white tent, but for some reason the Scope fair advertised itself as being located at 3055 N. Miami Ave. For those of us walking up N. Miami Ave., 3055 was a giant dirt lot. There weren't any signs directing us to the entrance. I was not the only person wandering aimlessly up an down N. Miami Ave, between 31st and 29th, helplessly searching for 30th street.
It was schlocky--is that even a word?? Well, it was. More specifically, it felt unfocused. Many of the dealers' desk areas were covered in folios, books, and ric-rac. While I loved Maya Huyuk's mural (you can see a glimpse of the rainbow wall painting in the shot above), the "art fair" seemed to mutate into a "craft fair" as you walked from the front to the back of the tent. The last row's walls were covered with scarves, t-shirts, and specialty wallpaper.
Not that there's anything wrong with specialty wallpaper. I just wish that Scope didn't brand itself as an "Art Show".
Oy.
Umm, methinks someone else agreed with my sentiments about this fair...because it certainly looks as if Scope's Google tagline has been hacked. No?? (Why do I feel like Bert Rodriguez did not have anything to do with this?)
One tragic example. I won't even name names. Overhung, overdone...
On the other hand:
SHOUT OUT to Jen Stark (at Carol Jazzar Gallery's booth) for the best work I saw at Scope. Some shots are below.
Stay tuned for more of my Miami rundown...

Miami: The Rundown (Basel & Rubell Collection)
Tuesday, December 07, 2010
BASELWelcome to Basel! Pristine as ever.
It wouldn't be Art Basel Miami without Eva and Adele!
Or some Damien Hirst (above: "Isolation," 2009/2010, gold plated, glass and cubic zirconia; at White Cube's booth)
Or some participatory installations.
Basel had its fair share of pleasing encounters this year, such as this "park" area in the middle of the convention center...
...and this Art|Video section, with a cluster of individual "viewing booths"...
...Or artistic flooring (at James Cohan's booth)...
...Ooohh, and wall labels with prices!!!
...And then there was this incredible booth (Galleria Franco Noero, Torino) (above).
RUBELL COLLECTION
There were two things I liked very much about the Rubell Collection this year: 1. Matthew Day Jackson everywhere, and 2. the Nobu boxed lunches (above: that's the happy crowed hovering around the sushi station and the Illy coffee bar). It was a truly Miami afternoon.
Talk about a nice package.
