Wed reading and Shout Out
Wednesday, May 18, 2011
First things first:An overdue SHOUT OUT to MocoLoco for this posting about Sonya Blesofsky's exhibition, Tenement, currently on view at Mixed Greens.
Secondly:
It's the grayest, rainiest week possible. Go get some color in your day with The Thingness of Color at DODGE Gallery. Read about it here at New American Paintings.
Apparently today is Museum Day! Perfect for a rainy day. You still have about two hours worth of museum time!
Never did I ever think I'd read the words "sex" and "acne drug" in the headline of an article about the Barnes Foundation.
Thanks to Art Fag City for pointing out this article....oooohh authentification using fingerprints!

Go See It Now
Wednesday, May 18, 2011
Just saw the Alexander McQueen exhibit at The Met. This was not the work of a fashion designer on display. This was the work of an artist. Three words: GO SEE IT NOW.(and like the website warns, this might not be suitable for young children...i'm personally still haunted by The Horn of Plenty dress made of black duck feathers)

What you learn by reading the NYFA job postings
Friday, May 13, 2011
Zach Feuer is seeking a "volunteer" to make lunch and water plants as part of Phoebe Washburn's upcoming exhibition.MMPI (Art Chicago Fair) is looking for a new Show Director. Uhh, does the person who was the show director two weeks ago know that they're out??
NYFA's blog is looking for an intern to the executive director, and the need a summer editiorial intern for the NYFA Current. And these internships are unpaid. The Dia is also offering an unpaid curatorial internship. Has the law changed on the issue of paying interns or not?
Confidential? Anonymous listing?? You're not fooling us with that. This "confidential listing" for a paid internship asks you to send your resume to kwbaumgartner[at]gmail.com A quick google search of "kwbaumgartner" and you figure out that this is who you're contacting.
Thomas Campbell's plans for the Met to become uber-technologically hip apparently includes a $5-7 million budget. How do I know this? Because I read it in this job description.
