HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
Congratulations! You have found the super-secretive bonus holiday card only the tech-savvy and willing can see.
This drawing was made especially for the holidays by Mark Mulroney. Mulroney works in a variety of media including drawing, wood carving, and painting. The recurring motifs such as exaggerated genitalia, oozing bodily fluids, and practically anything that is NSFW may appear juvenile, but his work ultimately deals with matters everyone faces on a daily basis: sexual frustration, loneliness, and fear of death. His formative experiences as an alter boy, his love of mid-century pornography, and his obsession with vintage paper all combine to create artwork that conveys his unique perspective.
Mark Mulroney received his MFA from The University of California at Santa Barbara. His first solo show in New York was with Mixed Greens in September of 2004. Other solo show venues include Ever Gold Gallery, San Francisco, CA; Galleries Goldstein, London, England; Guerrero Gallery, San Francisco, CA; ebersmoore gallery, Chicago, IL; ArtSpace, New Haven, CT; Gregory Lind Gallery, San Francisco, CA; Richard Heller, Los Angeles, CA; and The San Diego Museum of Contemporary Art. Group exhibition venues have included Park Gallery, San Francisco, CA; OKOK Gallery, Seattle, WA; Evergreen Gallery, Geneva, Switzerland; The National Gallery of Art, Warsaw, Poland; RAID projects, Los Angeles, CA; Finesilver Gallery, Houston, TX; Cassius King Gallery, San Diego, CA; The University of Nevada, Las Vegas, NV; the San Francisco Art Institute, CA; the Santa Barbara Contemporary Arts Forum, CA; and the Laguna Beach Art Museum in CA. He has been written about in numerous publications including artforum.com, the Los Angeles Times, Flash Art, and Esquire. Mulroney currently lives and works in Syracuse, NY.
Mark Mulroney will have a solo booth with us at VOLTA NY the upcoming year (March 6 - 9, 2014). If you like his work, you can see more on our website and EVEN MORE on Mark's website.
